In this edition of our Meet The Team series, we catch up with Chris Younger, Head of Client Services at Ebix Europe. Chris discusses what makes the business unique, from its collaborative culture and customer-first approach to the opportunities that come from working in a close-knit team. He also shares what he enjoys most about his role and how his responsibilities have evolved during his time at Ebix Europe.
What do you enjoy most about working at Ebix Europe?
One of the things I value most is the culture. We’re a close-knit team where everyone is approachable, whether it’s Directors, HR, Developers, Infrastructure, Helpdesk, Business Analysts, Training or Compliance. I genuinely feel I can have a conversation with anyone, regardless of their role, and that creates a really supportive working environment.
Because we’re a relatively small team, everyone is willing to roll their sleeves up and help wherever it’s needed. It’s not unusual to see developers joining client calls to provide technical expertise, or Helpdesk colleagues supporting internal testing. There’s a real sense that we’re all working towards the same goal.
How has working in a smaller organisation benefited your own development?
Working in a smaller business gives you exposure to so many different parts of the organisation, with the peace of mind of knowing we have the wider support of the Ebix group. Beyond my day-to-day role, I’ve gained insight into sales, marketing, contracts, project management and software development, which has helped me build a much broader understanding of the business.
There’s also a strong culture of learning. We have some incredibly knowledgeable people across the company, and they’re always happy to share their expertise. If you want to develop new skills or deepen your understanding of a particular area, there’s always someone willing to help.
What sets Ebix Europe apart when working with clients?
For me, it’s our attitude towards customer relationships. We don’t believe in selling a product and then charging clients for every small change or support request that follows. Instead, we build ongoing support into the relationship.
We also don’t feel the need to make bold claims about what we do. We’d rather let the quality of our work and the relationships we build speak for themselves.
Another real strength is the expertise within the business. Many of our specialists have worked in the same roles as our clients, so they understand the day-to-day challenges they face. That means we actively listen, understand their priorities and pain points, and can provide solutions that genuinely make a difference.
What do you enjoy most about working with clients?
Meeting clients and prospects face-to-face is one of my favourite parts of the job. It’s always rewarding to get to know the person behind the job title and understand what they’re trying to achieve.
Those conversations help us identify where Ebix can add real value. Every organisation has different challenges, and I enjoy working closely with clients to understand how our technology and expertise can support their specific needs.
How has your role evolved since joining Ebix Europe?
My role has grown in ways I didn’t initially expect. I originally joined Ebix Europe to focus on account management, building relationships with clients and helping them get the most from our solutions. However, over the nearly five years I’ve been with the business, my responsibilities have expanded.
Alongside my account management role, I’ve become heavily involved in areas such as due diligence, legal contracts and broader business strategy, which has given me a much wider understanding of how the business operates beyond client relationships. More recently, since my promotion to Head of Client Services, I’ve also taken on people management responsibilities, which has been a rewarding opportunity to support colleagues in their own development too.
I’ve also become experienced in events management, helping to organise and deliver a range of events, both at our offices and at external venues. Bringing together clients, partners and colleagues has allowed me to develop another completely different skill set and has become one of the most enjoyable aspects of my role.
Finally, how would you describe the culture at Ebix Europe?
It’s a business that genuinely cares about its people. Alongside regular company updates and socials, management works hard to promote a healthy work-life balance and create an environment where people feel supported.
